The Brownies Foot Race

Lot #1
The Brownies Foot Race by Palmer Cox
This is a very rare card signed by Palmer Cox and copyrighted 1893 by L. Prang & Company, Boston, USA Unfortunately it has obvious writing on the obverse and was sent through the mail and postmarked February 4, 1904, even though there is some question as to whether or not it was actually issued as a postcard. This is a very choice Brownies collectible. This card is priced at $100.

Brownies Trade Card

Lot #2
Brownies Trade Card
The Brownies were so popular that they were "borrowed" and used in many forms. This card is on thin paper and was not drawn or signed by Palmer Cox. Still it is beautiful, in excellent condition, and has a poem "In the Brownie Series" on the reverse. this card is priced at $50!

Little Nemo Postcard

Lot #3
Little Nemo Postcard
Klaw & Erlanger's Little Nemo Company stage play starred Joseph Cawthorne and Master Gabriel as Little Nemo. The card is unused and in nice condition. All Little Nemo collectibles are scarce. This card is priced at $25.

Bringing Up Father Advertising Postcard

Lot #4
Bringing Up Father Advertising Postcard by George McManus
This full color, elongated postcard was copyrighted 1919 by Star Co., publishers of The North American newspaper. This card is in NM/M condition and is absolutely beautiful! This card is priced at $100.

Bringing Up Father Advertising Postcard

Lot #5
Bringing Up Father Advertising Postcard by George McManus
This card is from the same series as Lot #4. It is also in NM/M condition and is absolutely beautiful! This card is priced at $100.

Erin Go Brag

Lot #6
Erin Go Brag by Gene Carr
This 1906 postcard personifies Carr's comic art. It is in excellent condition. It is priced at $10.

Easter Cards

Lot #7
Easter Cards by Gene Carr
This group of six postcards features the gang from the popular Lady Bountiful comic strip by Gene Carr. The art is great, the figures are embossed, and the cards are copyrighted 1907. The cards are in very nice condition. The group of six cards is priced at $40.

Children's Games

Lot #8
Children's Games by Gene Carr
This group of four postcards features kids (possibly the gang from Lady Bountiful?) playing a variety of games including snap-the-whip, snow-balling, hide-and-seek, and foot-ball. The cards are in excellent condition and are copyright 1907. These cards are rarer than the ones described in Lot #7. The group of four cards is priced at $75.

PALS

Lot #9
PALS by Gene Carr
This card shows a mischievous cartoon boy holding a giant firecracker over his shoulder like a rifle! It is copyright 1906 and in nice condition except that I just noticed his left eye has been damaged. The card is priced as is at $10.

Little Growling Bird

Lot #10
Little Growling Bird
This 1 1/4" pinback has a hole in the bottom center for a ribbon to be attached. It is a nice portrait of the Indian maiden from the Little Growling Bird comic strip given away by the Sunday North American, the same paper that distributed the Bringing Up Father cards in Lot #4 and Lot #5. I believe the pin was distributed between 1915-1925. Except for the missing ribbon, the pins shows the lightest browning and still has great eye appeal! The pin is priced at $25.
