Stygian Shoreline

by Paul Angelosanto

Creaking of rotten, worm eaten, wood

Fluttering of yellow, faded, sails

The ship lists towards it's portside

Sailing on an necrotic ocean of dead bodies

Decayed corpses rise and swell beneath the ship

Aged limbs crumble and break, atrophied forms burst open

underneath the vessels ancient weight

Jaws gape open as if in longing to scream

Sallow skulls twist in the wake, as if to watch the passing

of the empty ship

The empty ship

Sailing to it's last bitter infinite sleep

It's last bitter infinite sleep
