All Star Comics Archives

by Gardner Fox

Anyone who is a true fan of comic books will truly appreciate this hardcover edition of the first Super Hero Team--The Justice Society of America. This team of heroes set the stage of their silver age counterparts, as well as, the Justice League of America. I am glad DC has put together these Archive Editions as an easy way to capture hard to find and out of print titles. You could easily spend thousands of dollars and long hours at comic conventions to buy back issues. I for one am hooked. Once you buy one, you'll want to buy the whole set.

World's Finest Comics : Archives

by Edmond Hamilton, Bill Finger, Curt Swan, Dick Sprang

These characters no longer exist in comics today. I'm talking about the smiling Batman, the wisecracking Robin, and the Superman whose biggest worry was his secret identity. In fact, they don't even make comics like this anymore. We are now awash in 3-D computer generated graphics and colorization, unusual panelling, and thicker paper stock. This book will take you back to the 50's and 60's with the clever, simpler stories. It was still a challenge to team a much weaker Batman with Superman and make it work. Yet, the writers of World's Finest made it happen again and again. This is fine reading and one of the best volumes in the DC Archives series.

Golden Age Starman Archives Volume 1

by Gardner Fox

The popularity of the modern day Starman comic has prompted DC to publish a Starman Archive Edition ahead of many other books we might have expected, e.g. Dr. Fate or Spectre. The modern-day Starman is the son of the 1940s hero, who is the (ahem) star of this collection. The book is steeped in the tradition of the Golden Age of Comic Books. Collectors and others who obsess about DC comic continuity will find this volume indispensable. The less fanatic will just find it is a sensational read.

The Golden Age : Green Lantern Archives (Green Lantern Series)

by Martin Nodell (Illustrator), Bill Finger

Definitely a must have book for any GL fan whether you were a fan of the Golden Age, Silver Age, or Modern Age Green Lanterns. It sure beats paying over $1000 for just the first issue/appearance of Alan Scott. Now, his adventures are readily available and affordable in this archive. I like how the stories back then were so much simpler. Strange how Alan was always referred as this "weird" figure as he changes to his GL outfit. Still, its a great addition to any GL collector enthusiast like me.
